Cultural Diversity of Africa's Past
The Local Organizing Committee of the 19th SAfA Biennial Meeting in Frankfurt / Main welcomes you to the conference's website. This is to inform you about the provisional programme, and to provide some general information.
The conference will be hosted by the Department of African Archaeology and Archaeobotany at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University of Frankfurt on the Main, in collaboration with Cologne University (African Archaeology Unit, Department of Prehistory), and the University of Geneva (Département d'Anthropologie et d'Écologie).
The 19th Meeting of the SAfA (Society of Africanist Archaeologists) aims to bring together the worldwide community of Africanist archaeologists engaged in the research of Africa's past. It seeks to promote and encourage the interaction among scholars and students from different continents by enabling an intensive exchange of knowledge, concepts, methods, experiences and views. With the title 'Cultural Diversity of Africa's Past', the plenary contributions, and thematic papers and posters presented shall highlight the diversity of ancient African cultures and the strategies adopted by people for coping with the environmental opportunities and constraints in the continent.
Registration is open. Please click on "Registration" in the head of this page or go to http://www.safa2008.com/register/ . Papers and posters can only be submitted by doing a registration. If you want to apply for a second presentation, please contact us by mail.
DEADLINES:
Registration with paper / poster: 31 May 2008
Registration as participant only: 31 July 2008.
